UNIWORLD PARTNERS WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
To mark the National Day of Service on Sept. 11, 2013, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises volunteered alongside of two other southern California Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) member lines — Princess Cruises and Cunard — for Habitat for Humanity. Uniworld employees volunteered for the Los Angeles “Habitat for Heroes” initiative to build houses for veterans. The “Habitat for Heroes” initiative, created by Habitat for Humanity San Fernando, Santa Clarita Valley, and the California Department of Veterans Affairs, was created to help build 12 houses for low-income veteran families. Uniworld, alongside of CLIA and the other two cruise lines helped with the framing, insulation, and construction of a new house in the Sylmar, Los Angeles neighbourhood.
“Uniworld is so very proud to have been part of such a wonderful ‘Habitat for Heroes’ volunteer opportunity, especially in the spirit of the National Day of Service. We feel privileged to have worked alongside CLIA, Princess, and Cunard to give back to our Los Angeles community and our veterans by building houses,” said Guy Young, president and CEO of Uniworld Boutique River Cruises.
