Universal Studios & Seaworld close as Hurricane Milton approaches

Due to Hurricane Milton, Universal Orlando Resort and Seaworld have announced a series of operational changes for Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Universal CityWalk will be open until 2 p.m. and will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 10. (*Note: Hours of operation are subject to change based on forecast alterations and some attraction and experience availability may be limited on Wednesday as the park prepares for an early closure)

Universal Volcano Bay will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10. Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida is cancelled for Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10. All of the Universal hotels remain operational and will continue to take care of guests.

What about guests with tickets?

In a statement, Universal said that it anticipates “a full reopening of our destination, including Halloween Horror Nights, on Friday, Oct. 11 at our normal operating hours pending the outcome of storm impacts.”

Guests with tickets to visit Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure on Thursday, October 10 – or Universal Volcano Bay on Wednesday, October 9 or Thursday, October 10 – will be able to use their tickets to visit any day through Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024.

Seaworld closures now in place

Precautions are in place following the park’s comprehensive weather preparedness plan to ensure the safety of its animals and ambassadors during this time. The park will reopen on Oct. 11.

 

All date-intended tickets for closure days have been extended through December 31, 2024 and require no action to be taken.

Busch Gardens Tampa is closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10. Howl-O-Scream is cancelled for Thursday, Oct. 10. Tickets may be used for any remaining Howl-O-Scream event nights. Adventure Island remains running on its seasonal schedule without changes at this time.

SeaWorld Orlando is closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10. Aquatica Orlando is closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10. Discovery Cove is closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.

Seaworld’s Named Storm Policy is in effect. Guests are encouraged to contact the Guest Services team by emailing dco‑guestrelations@discoverycove.com or calling 407-513-4600. Those who are using email should include their reservation number and “Hurricane rebooking” in the subject line of the email.
