Tahiti Brings Its Sparkle To Toronto

Tahiti Tourisme and a group of a dozen of its top suppliers, rolled into Toronto last night (Sept. 19)

for an informative, intimate and stylish evening of both education and networking for area travel agents.

In all about 50 agents were on hand for the event. Those agents had all successfully completely Tahiti Tourisme’s travel agent destination specialist training program, called the Tahiti Tiare program.

Amalia Meliti, managing director of Tahiti Tourisme, welcomed agents, telling them that the group had been on the road for the past two weeks as they worked their way across Canada spreading the word as to what’s new in Tahiti.

Two years ago, she noted, Tahiti Tourisme opened its Canadian office and it is clearly a move that has paid off in terms of generating increased Canadian interest in the destination.

Meliti pointed out that Canadian arrivals are on the rise, with arrivals up by 29.3% between 2017 and 2018 and she praised agents for their support, noting that they’re the ones that have helped Tahiti post these gains.

In fact, in July 2018, Canadian arrivals grew by 31% compared to July 2017, so the trend is continuing.

Collette Baert, travel trade manager for Tahiti Tourisme here in Canada, provided the agents on hand with an in-depth overview of the Islands of Tahiti, offering details on the different islands, attractions, activities and excursions, air transportation, inter-island travel and lots, lots more.

Baert also introduced the agency audience to the suppliers who were on hand – these included: Air Tahiti Nui, Anderson Vacations, Aranui, Frenchbee, Goway, the Brando, The Moorings, Paul Gaugin Cruises, Tours Chanteclerc, Travel2, TravelBrands and Tahiti Nui Travel – asking them questions about their products and programs.
