RIU goes ‘adults-only’ in the Dominican
RIU Hotels & Resorts is completing a renovation of its Hotel Riu Palace Macao in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Following an investment of $14 million, the hotel will reopen on Aug. 4 with a new decorative style and new restaurants and services. From the beginning of the coming winter season, the Riu Palace Macao will be “the perfect choice for couples looking for a relaxing stay,”as the hotel will be RIU’s first adults-only hotel in the Americas. The Riu Palace Macao was the first Palace brand hotel in the Americas. The hotel will maintain its colonial-style facade, but its interior design will be modernized. The 364 rooms have been renovated, with new furniture, décor, linen and drapes, flat-screen televisions, showers instead of baths, and hydromassage baths available in suites. The lobby will offer a Capuchino Cafe, the new brand of coffee shop and patisserie which RIU has introduced in new Palace hotels. In addition, the hotel has the new Volare Italian restaurant and Pancho Steak House to complement the El Patio buffet, the Japanese Kabuki and the Krystal fusion restaurants. The pool and garden areas have been remodelled, with the kids’ zone being removed to make way for a new pool and swim-up bar. The La Boheme lounge bar has been renovated, as well as the hotel’s indoor theatre. Guests can also enjoy the new casino and the Copacabana open-air amphitheatre. (http://www.riu.com)
