August sees One&Only Cape Town get guests up close and personal with the ocean and its inhabitants, a celebrity chef and his home-grown specialities and some of the finest wines the region has to offer. Along with International Shark Week, One&Only Cape Town looks forward to hosting adventure-seeking guests who relish the thought of combining extraordinary ocean-based wildlife excursions with epicurean endeavours. Located in the V&A Waterfront, the resort is 25 minutes from False Bay where incredible shark and whale encounters can be experienced. Shark-seeking resort guests are accompanied by great white shark expert Chris Fallows, owner of ocean encounters company APEX Predators Hosting guests on a catamaran. Fallows offers cage dives, photographic safaris or boat-based sightings of sharks, whales, seals and bird life. Aside from great white sharks, participants in the One&Only Close Encounter Experiences are also able to view other shark species, dolphins and whales — whether in the form of boat-based excursions, cage dives or free dives — such as the chaperoned daily tank dives with Ragged Tooth sharks at the Two Oceans Aquarium in the V&A Waterfront. After discovering sharks, whales and other ocean wildlife, guests can relax at Reuben’s where celebrity chef Reuben Riffel has created a menu that reflects his rural upbringing and passion for local produce and seasonal offerings. An after-shark experience for guests is a private wine tasting with award winning sommelier Luvo Ntezo.
