Newly renovated Princeville links open for play
Hawaii’s top-ranked Princeville Prince golf course on Kauai’s north shore has reopened, unveiling the spectacular course after a 13-month renovation. The Prince, ranked as one of the “Top 100″courses in the US, had been closed since January 2011 for extensive renovations. This included the reshaping and reconstruction of putting greens with SeaDwarf Seashore turf, the remodeling of bunkers and the clearing and widening of fairways. New tees were added to enhance shot values and improve playability for all skill levels. In addition, significant upgrades were completed on the practice facility and clubhouse. “We’ve given this Kauai gem new polish and sparkle,”said architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr., who designed the Prince Course for its opening in 1990. “This revitalization makes the course more flexible for a wider range of players while still providing Championship-calibre challenges for more seasoned golfers.”The Prince Course is known for its challenging play, breathtaking natural beauty and layout that follows the natural contours of the land. It encompasses rolling terrain, jungle, gullies, streams and waterfalls. It has consistently been ranked as the number one course in Hawaii and is known as one of top 100 golf courses in America.
