Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am tees off Nov. 14-18
Golf travellers and tournament players interested in participating in the seventh annual Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am “Annie’s Revenge”presented by NIKE GOLF can now reserve a space by registering at http://www.jamaicaproam.com . The tournament will be played at Cinnamon Hill and White Witch golf courses in Montego Bay from Nov. 14 to 18. Team entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis until registration closes on Aug. 1. The all-inclusive Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall will once again serve as the host hotel for tournament participants, offering players and guests a five-day, all-inclusive resort experience. The Jamaica Tourist Board has teamed up with NIKE GOLF to present the Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am, nicknamed “Annie’s Revenge”after the legendary White Witch of Rose Hall. Teams of four players, comprised of one professional and three amateur golfers, will compete over 54 holes, playing both courses as they compete for the Jamaica Pro-Am Championship trophy. Golf professionals will play for a purse of US$30,000. Last year’s leading money winner, John Denholm from Steubenville Country Club in Ohio, will attempt to defend his title against a field of 40 pros eager to capture a share of this year’s increased prize purse. “The Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am with NIKE GOLF is one of the top golf events in the Caribbean,”said John Lynch, Jamaica’s director of tourism. “This event has grown from a few teams in the initial years to now selling out annually, with players travelling from the US, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. We have developed a positive, mutually beneficial partnership with NIKE GOLF and Iberostar Resorts that allows golfers and guests to experience so much of what Jamaica has to offer both as a sport and leisure destination.”Amateurs will vie for prizes valued at more than US$15,000, including tournament plaques handmade in Jamaica and NIKE GOLF equipment, which will be awarded to top placing teams in four flights as well as to the winners of special on-course contest holes each day. All-inclusive tournament entry fees are US$2,875 for amateurs and US$1,450 for non golf guests, exclusive of airfare. Host golf professionals receive a complimentary entry and $500 travel credit courtesy of the Jamaica Tourist Board and NIKE GOLF if their team is registered by Aug. 1. (http://www.jamaicaproam.com)
