If They Wear Masks, I’ll Go There
Close to 60% of American travellers indicated they prefer destinations that require face masks in public, with a third of those reporting they will only visit destinations with mandatory face mask orders, according to the most recent Longwoods International tracking study.
In contrast, the tracking study found that only 9% are less likely to visit a destination which requires face masks, with 3% refusing to visit destinations which require face masks.
Amir Eylon, president and CEO of Longwoods International, said: “With the coronavirus pandemic surging across the country, the required use of face masks has become an important consideration when making travel decisions. Destinations which require face masks are likely to see more visitors than those who do not have such requirements.”
However, the survey also reports that the percentage of American travellers who now feel safe travelling outside their community has fallen to 38%, the lowest level since mid-May. About half of travellers say that the pandemic will greatly impact their decision to travel in the next six months, with that percentage steadily increasing in the past six weeks after previous declines.
The survey, supported by Miles Partnership, was fielded July 15, 2020 using a national sample randomly drawn from a consumer panel of 1,000 adults, ages 18 and over. Quotas were used to match Census targets for age, gender, and region to make the survey representative of the U. S. population.
