Iconic bonfires of SoCal beaches may be banned
Something so simple as a bonfire on the beach has been an icon of California lifestyle, featured in loads of films on the famous beaches near L.A. Now, the bonfires are threatened with elimination, as the South Coast Air Quality Management District has proposed the removal of all Southern California beach fire rings. A petition seeks to defeat the proposal. Elimination of the rings would be “a cultural and historical loss”and would result in “economic losses far greater than we can even imagine,”said Steve Bone, president of the Huntington Beach Marketing and Visitors Bureau.
