Goway adds food to the itinerary
Goway Travel is now offering unique culinary experiences for clients in certain destinations. Moira Smith, general manager of Goway’s AFRICAExperts, points out that: “Today’s globetrotter is more cultured than the visitor of 20 years ago and whilst they still want to experience all the major tourist attractions, food has become a significant aspect of the destination experience.” In Cape Town travellers can now include food experiences which give an insight into different cultures. The “Cape Malay cooking safari” includes a guided walk through the historical heart of the Bo-Kaap, and includes visits to a local spice shop and a halaal butcher, offering opportunities to interact with locals and to discover traditional ingredients. The highlight is to visit a family home to participate in a hands-on, fun-filled cooking session and demonstration before savouring lunch. The “African Cooking Safari” offers insights into the everyday life of locals living in areas such as Langa, Gugulethu and Khayelitsha, and includes recipes that can be re-created back home. Other food adventures include a Guguletu African cooking safari, where guests experience a township tour, followed by a hands-on cooking workshop in the home of a local family. For foodies a natural extension to a stay in Cape Town would be to spend two nights in Franschhoek, known as the gourmet capital of South Africa. For more, go to http://www.goway.com .
