Crystal Symphony reroutes due to port closure

Due to the closure of the port of New York from hurricane damage, Crystal Symphony will not call at New York this week as scheduled, but, instead, will not now sail to its next scheduled port of Charleston, S. Carolina. “We have great concern for everyone affected by Hurricane Sandy, including our guests and crew, whose safety has been our utmost priority,”says Crystal president, Gregg Michel. “To ensure their well-being, we have been closely monitoring the storm, working with local officials, and making decisions on an hourly basis, as the situation has been ever-changing.”Crystal Symphony remained in the port of Boston until after the hurricane made landfall. It departed yesterday morning, heading for Manhattan, where it was planned to end a Montreal-New York voyage, and begin its next New York-Los Angeles cruise. The ship sailed straight to Charleston, and is scheduled to arrive at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Nov. 1) one day earlier than previously planned. Guests will be able to disembark on Nov. 1 or 2, depending on individual travel arrangements. The next cruise is scheduled to embark on Nov. 2. Crystal is notifying travel agents and guests from both cruises of the new plans. The cruise line is further providing guests on the current cruise with complimentary Internet access to rearrange travel plans and communicate with loved ones, as well as complimentary airport transfers for all guests in Charleston.
