Silver Cloud to Join Silversea’s Expedition Fleet
Silversea Cruises has plans to convert Silver Cloud into an ice-class ship and move the ship to its luxury expedition fleet in November 2017. Destined mostly for polar waters, the 296-guest ship that launched the ultra-luxury cruise line will be converted into an ice-class ship during an extensive refurbishment scheduled to start in August 2017. Norway-based Hurtigruten has announced the winning name in its “Name our Newest Ship” Facebook contest – the MS Spitsbergen. Spitsbergen is the largest island in Norway’s Svalbard Archipelago, located above the Arctic Circle. The name was chosen from more than 15,000 suggestions, submitted from around the world since July.
