Etihad inaugurates Nairobi service
Etihad Airways' inaugural passenger flight to Kenya has touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi. The new daily, two-class A320 service is the airline's first passenger service to East Africa and an important step in expanding its presence in Africa. The airline will also reach into West Africa with the introduction of flights to Nigeria in July. Virgin set to launch London-Vancouver service
Virgin Atlantic will officially launch its new non-stop route between London and Vancouver on May 24. Expected to join the inaugural flight - due to touch down at Vancouver International Airport at 1:10 p.m. - is Sir Richard Branson, chairman of Virgin Group. Flights will depart from Heathrow Airport four times a week between May 24 and Oct. 27, with an estimated 40,000 passengers projected to use the service during its first season. Anna Buchnea has been named director, passenger sales Canada for Air Canada. Her appointment, which takes effect on June 1, was announced by the carrier's vice-president, global sales, Claude Morin. Buchnea, was formerly the carrier's general manager, sales communications and support, replaces Peter Wilson in the role. Wilson is retiring on May 31 after 34 years of service with Air Canada. Air Transat's new all-inclusive pricing policy is being rolled out across Canada. Icelandair resumes Toronto service
Icelandair has resumed seasonal service out of Pearson International in Toronto, offering four flights per week operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Service runs through Nov. 4. Service from Toronto will then resume on March 22, 2013. Icelandair's seasonal flights from Halifax will resume on June 7 with up to three flights per week through Oct. 8, returning in the spring of 2013.
