Porter operates biofuel-powered revenue flight
Porter Airlines has successfully conducted the first biofuel-powered revenue flight in Canada. In the successful conclusion to a test program that was launched in 2010, the airline flew one of its Bombardier Q400 turboprops from its base at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport to Ottawa using a 50/50 blend of biofuel and Jet A1 fuel in one of its engines. Porter Airlines arrived in America's capital region today with its inaugural flight from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport to Washington Dulles International Airport. Air Canada expects to resume regular schedule
Air Canada is preparing to resume its full flight schedule today (April 14), following the cancellation of approximately 75 flights yesterday due to illegal job action taken by some of its pilots. Cancelled flights were primarily to and from Toronto, the carrier's main hub, and other Canadian or US destinations. The airline's international flights were not affected. Air Canada warns of flight disruptions
Air Canada is blaming an illegal job action by some pilots for the cancellation and delay of numerous flights this morning. According to reports, pilots are calling in sick, so far affecting some services in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. This is the second such job action since back-to-work legislation by the federal government. EVA Air will begin serving two more gateways with its Hello Kitty Jets on May 23. The airline will use two of its new character-themed Airbus 330-300s on its Taipei Songshan - Tokyo Haneda and Songshan - Shanghai Hongqiao service. LOT Polish Airlines has introduced "Piece Concept,"a new, (and increased) consolidated baggage carriage policy for all flights.
