Barbados has reduced the airport service charge from US $35 to US $20, in an effort to increase regional travel to the island. The reduction will be in place until December 14, 2023.
Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Ian Gooding-Edghill said that the six-month reduction is intended to stimulate CARICOM travel to Barbados.

Emirates has officially touched down in Montréal, marking the start of its scheduled services to its second gateway in Canada. The inaugural flight was operated with a Boeing 777 aircraft, which will offer premium passenger services on its daily services to the city. Emirates now serves Canada with 14 flights per week.

Canada Jetlines Operations Ltd. has signed a 6-month contract with FlyAllways, a Caribbean airline based in Suriname, where FlyAllways will charter Canada Jetlines to provide weekly flights between Toronto and Georgetown, Guyana.

IATA’s May 2023 traffic data indicates continued strong growth in air travel demand.
The global airline industry association reports that:
Total traffic in May 2023 (measured in revenue passenger kilometers or RPKs) rose 39.1% compared to May 2022. Globally, traffic is now at 96.1% of May 2019 (pre-pandemic) levels.
Domestic traffic for May rose 36.4% compared to the year-ago period. Total May 2023 domestic traffic was 5.3% above the May 2019 level. This is the second month in a row domestic traffic has exceeded pre-pandemic levels.

IATA has upgraded its passenger traffic projections for Hong Kong, indicating it will recover to pre-crisis levels by the end of 2024. As well, the global aviation industry association welcomed the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) government’s efforts to ease the city’s labour crunch in the aviation sector.
The revised projections by IATA bring Hong Kong in line with expectations for a faster recovery in the Asia-Pacific region.
