CALGARY TOPS AGAIN
During the tabling of its 2012 annual report recently, Tourism Calgary reported that, for the second straight year, Calgary led the nation’s major cities for visitor spending growth (6.4%) and shared the lead in visitor growth (3.9%). Weekend occupancy gained 3.7% and weekday occupancy was up by 4.2%. In a year that celebrated the Calgary Stampede Centennial and Calgary’s designation as Cultural Capital of Canada, Calgary welcomed 5.2 million visitors, spending about $1.4 billion dollars at Calgary attractions, restaurants, hotels, shops and festivals/events.
