In a new 40-page brochure, Bestway has put together tours concentrating on UNESCO World Heritage Sites in South America, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Since 1972, UNESCO has designated over 900 properties across the world to be of “special cultural or physical significance.”Bestway includes more than 100 such sites in some 35 countries. India with Paul Saltzman: A Fusion of Colour, Music and Soul is a tour personally escorted by Saltzman. The tour promises insights to the country, people, culture and philosophy. Early in 1968, Saltzman learned meditation at the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s ashram in Rishikesh, India. While there, he spent time with and photographed the Beatles. His photos have been exhibited in galleries worldwide. In 2000, he released a book of his photographs, The Beatles in Rishikesh, with Penguin-Putnam; and in 2006 he published two Limited Edition box sets, The Beatles in India. Saltzman has been to India over 50 times. A 17-day tour will show Saltzman’s favourite places in the India. The journey (Feb. 15 to March 3) starts in the southern resort city of Kovalam near Trivandrum. It then traverses north enjoying India’s fusion of colour, music and soul while exploring Alleppey, Mumbai, Udaipur, Jaipur, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra, and New Delhi. The tour ends at Rishikesh — at the footsteps of the Himalayas. Tour dates have been timed to coincide with the Ravi Shankar Music Academy’s celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the birth of George Harrison. Harrison was the Beatles’ lead guitarist and a personal friend of Ravi Shankar. (http://www.worldheritagetours.com , http://www.bestway.com)
