American Queen Voyages shuts down
American Queen Voyages (AQV) has shut down its operations.
The company made the announcement on its Facebook page, stating: “We are saddened to share that American Queen Voyages (AQV) has made the difficult decision to shut down. The overnight cruise industry was especially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and related changes in travel preferences. Despite great efforts by our team, Crew and partners, demand has not recovered, and AQV has become financially unsustainable.”
The post continued: “Effective immediately, all future AQV cruises have been cancelled. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this decision causes, and guests should expect to have their cruise deposits refunded in full.”
A permanent action
AQV specialized in U.S. river cruises and reports indicate that its employees were advised by email of the shut down and that their positions – at all locations, including Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans and Vancouver – would be terminated at 5 p.m. local time on Feb. 20 and that action is expected to be permanent.
It also indicated that additional information is available at www.AQVinfo.com.
Refund information is available at www.AQVrefunds.com.
