A Simply Amazing Trio

Kind words. High praise. And lots and lots of good memories were on offer last night (June 18) at Toronto’s Four Seasons Hotel as Vision Travel – along with a high profile group of travel VIPs – celebrated three of the company’s founding members – Arend and Darlene Roos and Stephanie Anevich – as the trio marked their retirement.

Vision’s Brian Robertson asked the question that everyone was asking of the three throughout the evening – So, what do you do after a career in travel?

And Robertson also supplied the answer – Become a client.

He also noted that since 1999, when Vision was founded, the quartet of travel executives have had “a great journey” and the company has “a great story” to tell.

Vision’s Joel Ostrov praised the trio, telling Press Today that it has been “an absolute pleasure” working with Anevich and the Roos over the course of almost two decades.

Arend Roos had the full attention of the crowd as he told the story of how he ended up in the travel business back in the days of the OAG – does anyone remember the OAG, he asked – and before ABCs existed.

The upshot of his tale was that he bought a travel agency from Eddie Carroll for $2,500 and at age 20 he was in the travel business.

“It has been a great ride,” he told the crowd.

As for Stephanie Anevich, well she had everyone smiling and laughing as she told them that Vision’s founders are all entrepreneurs, observing: “We’re all a bunch of A types. Who knew we’d end up where we are now.”

Over the years, Anevich said there have been “some good days, some bad days, but mostly amazing days.”
