On The Road At Rendez-vous Canada

DE-montreal-Jan27
In Montreal for the 2016 edition of Rendez-vous Canada, Press Today’s Ian Stalker reports that Destination Canada president David Goldstein says Canada is going to be reaching out to young people eager to see the world.

Goldstein told a Monday (April 25, 2016) news conference during the Rendez-vous Canada 2016 show in Montreal that Canada has tended to promote its tourism attributes to boomers.

But he added “there’s a tremendous amount of opportunities” for this country to attract more youthful travellers, saying this country has “great” culture, culinary offerings and urban experiences.

“Your grandfather’s Canada is still there,” he said. “But your niece’s and nephew’s Canada is there too.”
Goldstein said “there’s a coolness to Canada which I think eludes a lot of people.”

He said Canada’s tourist trade had to contend with a “series of plagues” during the past decade, including a strong dollar, something that made Canada expensive to many foreign travellers.

Canada’s tourist trade is now more competitive, Goldstein continued. “Those on the floor of Rendez-vous 2016 have a far more competitive product.”
