Sabre and Blue Ribbon Bags have launched a new Red App that helps travel agents quickly and easily purchase luggage insurance for their clients.
Blue Ribbon Bags, a baggage insurance company, created the Red App, which is available through the Sabre Red App Centre.
While airlines continue to improve their baggage handling and the total global number of mishandled bags was down in 2013, more than 20 million bags were misplaced last year. Lost luggage is one of the biggest pain points for travellers especially in today’s world where many travellers are paying checked bag fees. Agents who use the Blue Ribbon Bags Red App will alleviate traveller anxiety about their luggage and create more customer loyalty with this differentiating service. Because Blue Ribbon Bags pays the agency a commission on each sale, it also allows the agency to generate additional revenue.

For a nominal service fee of $5, travellers can purchase luggage insurance and receive $1,000 per bag, if their luggage is lost for four days. Blue Ribbon Bags also offers higher coverage options; all coverage may be purchased at any time prior to a flight’s departure. No receipts for baggage contents are required to receive payment. Insurance payouts from Blue Ribbon Bags are guaranteed, even if the bags show up on the fifth day.
