HISTORIC TRIBAL HOUSE RENOVATED
Chief Shakes Tribal House, a historic monument on Shakes Island in the downtown harbour of Wrangell, AK, was recently renovated due to deteriorating conditions and will be rededicated in early May. Reconstructed as a replica of the original 19th century tribal house, the lodge was first opened in the 1940s. It has been completely restored using traditional Tlingit carving methods and materials by local carvers. (http://www.travelalaska.com)
