Mexico roadshow coming soon to Toronto, Ottawa & Montreal

Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto will see September events promoting different destinations in Mexico, with a familiar face to many in Quebec and Ontario’s tourism trades playing a major role in them.
Cesar Castaneda, who alternately served as director of the Mexico Tourism Board’s Montreal and Toronto offices, will be on hand for the events, marking a temporary return to this country from his native Mexico.
The Mexican government closed all Mexico Tourism Board office’s some 5 years ago, turning over responsibility for tourism promotion to Mexican diplomatic missions, a move critics say has resulted in a lower Canadian profile for Mexican tourism.
“I think that now destinations have to organize on their own, but Mexico is still a very important country for Canadian tourists,” said Castaneda, who still knows people in this country’s tourist trade after his return to his homeland. The multilingual Castaneda has continued his involvement in tourism and will organize the Quebec and Ontario events.
It isn’t yet clear which Mexican destinations will be on hand for the upcoming events but a number are expected.
The Montreal event will be held Sept. 10 at the InterContinental Hotel, the Ottawa event will be on Sept. 11 at the Lord Elgin Hotel and the Toronto event will be Sept. 12 at the Hilton Toronto.
