Minor Hotels brings its style of hospitality to Canada

If you haven’t heard of Minor Hotels, you soon will as the company, which has 540 hotels in 56 countries, brings its hospitality style to Canada.

Running things here, will be Lakshan Samarasinghe, Global Assistant Director of Sales, North America for Minor Hotels; marking the first time the company has had someone representing them and telling the company’s story in Canada.

In a recent conversation with Travel Press Today (TPT), Samarasinghe observed that he sees “lots of opportunity” in the Canadian market moving forward. And make no mistake about it, Minor Hotels is not unknown here, with Samarasinghe telling TPT that already a number of key travel management companies (TMCs) are selling Minor Hotels.

Eight luxury brands

What Samarasinghe is looking to do is to get the message out about what Minor Hotels and its eight brands offer to the larger agency community here in Canada.

During a recent visit to TPT’s offices in Toronto, Samarasinghe was joined by Willemijn van den Dungen, Director of Sales, Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam, who offered an update on one of Amsterdam’s most celebrated luxury hotels which has hosted royal celebrations, global conventions and welcomed a host of distinguished travellers over the course of its 150-year history.

The hotel has 402 rooms and suites and is located in the city centre on Dam Square overlooking the Royal Palace and a short walk from the city’s railway station, as well as museums and shopping districts.
