TICO looking for former registrants who can claim security deposit returns
TICO has launched a call-to-action to locate 13 registrants who are eligible to have their security deposits returned to them.
As part of the recommendations in the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario’s value-for-money audit released in December 2023, TICO has been reviewing all registrant security deposits that have been held for more than two years.
As part of this process, there are 13 former registrants who TICO has been unable to locate or make contact with to initiate the security return process.
TICO Registrar Dorian Werda, said: “These cases represent exceptional circumstances, where security deposits have been held for longer than expected and the rightful owners haven’t been located.”
Werda continued: “While we search for these individuals, we are committed to enhancing our processes to ensure fair and timely handling of all security deposits, safeguarding the interests of both consumers and agency owners.”
