The European Union Film Festival is back for a new hybrid edition

The European Union Film Festival is again underway in Toronto, showcasing a variety of movies from across the European continent.

There are in-person screenings at the city’s Spadina Theatre through Nov. 30, and an accompanying online festival will run from Dec. 1 – Dec. 17, with viewers across Canada able to see those movies on www.euffto.com.

On Sun., Nov. 19, Baxter Media caught the North American debut of the Italian film, The Spring of My Life, directed by Zavvo Nicolosi, a whimsical and humorous road trip movie starring popular Sicilian singers Colapesce and Dimartino. The evening commenced with a wine tasting, featuring a selection of Italian labels, sponsored by The Charming Taste of Europe.

The festival opened on Nov. 16 with the romantic comedy, Ramona, directed by Andrea Bagney (Spain)—shot in black and white as a nod to the French New Wave of the 1960s. The Swedish film, Comedy Queen, directed by Sanna Lenken, closes the in-person festival on Nov. 30.

While most in-person screenings are free, a limited number of tickets are available for sale.
The Spadina Theatre is found at 24 Spadina Road.
