Azores Airlines Takes Off To The Algarve
Azores Airlines has announced that beginning June 2, 2024, it will operate between Ponta Delgada and Faro twice a week.
The flights will take place on Wednesdays and Sundays, departing from Ponta Delgada at 09:00 and from Faro at 12:25. The flight between the two cities will last approximately two hours and twenty-five minutes and will be operated on Airbus A320 equipment with a capacity for 168 seats.
In this way, the carrier increases the range of destinations it operates in mainland Portugal, adding Faro to Lisbon and Porto, which it serves regularly throughout the year.
Located in the central Algarve, Portugal’s southernmost region, Faro International Airport is the main gateway for tourists to the area and the second-largest external gateway for passengers in Portugal.
With this initiative, the airline seeks to consolidate its position in the domestic market, expand its portfolio of routes and increase the connectivity of the network in the Azores, for example, allowing tourists who originate in North America to choose to stay in the Azores or continue their journey to a range of varied destinations in Portugal (Lisbon, Porto, and Faro) and the islands (Madeira) and other European destinations, such as Paris, Frankfurt, Barcelona, or Bilbao.
