Wild retreats at Nimmo Bay

Well known for its heli-fishing and heli-hiking adventures, Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort has now added wilderness and wildlife retreats for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The new retreats offer guests a chance to experience the amazing wildlife and wilderness that surrounds the property without using the resort’s helicopters, which can be expensive, explained Becky Eert, marketing director for Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort. Eert observed: “The resort is truly remote, providing us with access to untamed wilderness and abundant wildlife. From bear watching on stand-up paddle boards to kayaking with resident Orca whales, to visiting Alert Bay and its amazing First Nations culture, we can provide our guests with on the ground and above the clouds Canadian West Coast adventures.” The new Wilderness and Wildlife retreats feature both marine and land based activities. Adventures include bear watching by boat or stand-up paddle board, whale watching, waterfall boat tours, kayaking day trips, rainforest hikes to a nearby lake for a swim, and saltwater fishing excursions. Guests may also choose to spend the day relaxing at Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort where they can get a massage, take a cooking class, or level their mind, body and spirit with a yoga class on the floating fire dock. Trips to neighbouring First Nations villages and museums can also be arranged. Rates for Wilderness and Wildlife retreats, which run from July 2 to Oct. 20, 2012 start at CDN$895 per person, per day. Package price includes accommodation in private cabins; all gourmet meals and house alcohol; casual salt water fishing, hiking and kayaking; glacier and waterfall tours; bear and whale watching; and the use of all resort amenities. Transportation to and from the resort, premium alcohol, spa treatments and fishing licenses are an additional charge. Go to http://www.nimmobay.com for more.
