Costa ship adrift after engine room fire
Costa Cruises’ Costa Allegra, sister ship to Costa Concordia, is adrift in the Indian Ocean after an engine room fire left it without power. According to reports, the fire is out and Costa says no one was hurt. The Costa Allegra has 636 passengers and 413 crew on board. Costa says the vessel was sailing around 320 km southwest of the Seychelles when the fire broke out. Rescue vessels are on the way. Reports say the ship doesn’t have engine power, but steering is still operable. Costa said passengers are “in good health and, having been promptly informed of the situation, were assembled at the muster points as a precaution.”
